Help Chief Wortman's flooded home

Fire Chief Alfred Wortman's home was flooded during Hurricane Florence. There is over 7 feet of water inside his home. He was NOT in a flood zone and the insurance co. told him he did not need flood insurance. He checked with neighbors in the area before he purchased in April 2018 and was told it did not flood during any storms, even Floyd which was a 500 year flood.  Officials say it may be the second week of October before the water will be below his foundation. 
He will need all sheetrock, insulation, siding , HVAC systems, flooring, appliances and furniture replaced. The cost will exceed $100,000 and he has applied for a FEMA grant that may provide $20,000. We are asking $30,000 for demo and start of reconstruction.  Alfred, his Wife Bridget, son Michael and daughter Catie are staying with Bridget's parents. We would like to have funding in place by October 8, 2018 to start repairs.

Gofundme would like you to know who I am as manager of the campaign. My name is Dan Medlin. AJ and I grew up in the same area and I have known him from 1972 (I was his first grade bus driver!). He Joined the Surf City Vol Fire Department and was my Deputy Chief becoming Chief when I retired from Volunteer service. He Joined Camp LeJeune Fire Department not long after I joined in 1987.  He has been my best friend in life.

The Funds will be spent on cleanup,  damaged material removal, and repair and replacement of damaged material, contents.  

The funds from the campaign will be 100% directly deposited into Alfred's personal checking account.
