As The Corona Virus has impacted the world and travel has ground to a standstill many communities globally within the Tourism sector have been harshly affected essentially near on depleted.
Chicama situated in North Western Peru is the world famous desert bound endless left hander ,inhabited by a community that lives and breaths the surfing lifestyle and has been impacted severely, more than most by the lockdown .
For five months the people of Chicama and Peru have suffered some of the harshest lockdown restrictions globally . Everyone that works in the tourism sector primarily serving foreign and Peruvian surfers has been cut off from income Surf coaches ,boat guides ,hoteliers ,restauranteurs and their staff taxis shops just about everyone !The community has been trying hard to be resourceful during this period and monies previously gathered have been
Distributed to help those that are in dire need of medication ,oxygen supplies, creating jobs such as beach cleaning days and local competitions for the youth to keep them moving forward positively the best they can under these stressful circumstances.
So Let’s help them some more ! Your contributions will go towards providing more of the above mentioned necessities .
As travellers those have visited this amazing place or those that
Are considering travelling there in the future I ask you to think of all those wonderful times had or to be had and how this community works together to make this place what it is ,an almost step back in time feeling of when to surf travel was more organic ,simple and relaxed with locals that make you feel welcome in and out of the water . This unique community has always welcomed all with open arms for the best part of half a century proudly maintaining this reputation.
Lack of work and the duress of daily life under Covid restrictions has drained the resources and energy that was until 5 months ago one of the most vibrant laid back and friendly Surf communities that one could ever hope to visit .
So I’m asking you ,friends ,friends of friends or just kindred travellers who come across this page to think of those local people and communities whom you've met in the past that have provided you with a stepping stone a friendly local hand to achieve life long goals and experiences to consider contributing paying it forward or a least pass this campaign on to all possible. Let them know people care and help them get back on their feet after all the good vibes they've put out there in the past.
Your gratefully accepted contributions no mater how big or small will go towards Chicama Towns ongoing need for medications ,food and envisaging work projects that will help to stimulate the economy now and going forwards.

1.A double room for a week in Chicama Hostal.
