<div>On January 21st, our daughter Cheyenne went into premature labor with our grandson Colton at just 25 weeks gestation. On January 22nd, she was rushed into emergency surgery to deliver Colton via C-section due to his heart rate dropping and Cheyenne's vitals declining. At 10:49 pm, Colton, weighing 2 pounds 6 ounces, was born; however, I was told I had to leave the operating room. They gave no explanation as to why, but all I heard the OB doctor say was, "Call the general surgeon stat" over and over again. As a mom, my heart hit the ground. I begged for them to tell me what was going on with my baby girl and my grandson. I didn't hear him cry, and I saw the fear in my baby girl's eyes when they rushed me out of the OR room. As a mom, I couldn't protect her, and it was all in God's hands at this time. Once out of the OR room, my knees hit the ground in pure fear and heartbreak, not knowing what was going on and not knowing if my baby girl was okay. My husband, myself, and her brother patiently waited with our eyes full of tears and our hearts completely broken for any type of update. Finally, the doctor came in and told us that she had a twisted bowel, a hernia, and they had to call in two more surgeons to operate on her, and she'd be in surgery for many more hours. She was in surgery for almost four hours, and we finally got the heartbreaking and devastating update. Our baby girl was septic! They had to remove part of her small intestines; she was in a coma, on life support, and would be in the ICU. Our grandson Colton would need to be life-flighted to a children's hospital over two hours away, and he was intubated. They also advised us that she would need an additional surgery in 24-36 hours to see if her bowels were viable and could be reconnected. All of our hearts literally broke. How is this happening to her and to him? How is this possible? She's a pretty healthy 30-year-old young mother of a 3-year-old beautiful son. Her 3-year-old son, Aiden, who was also born prematurely, has not been able to see or talk to his mommy since Tuesday. He just keeps saying, "Mommy has a boo boo, but she's going to get better, YaYa." As parents, we are having to make the most difficult decisions of our lives regarding our daughter's and grandson's medical care. No parent or grandparent should have to face this.

<div>Cheyenne will be in ICU and in recovery for over six months, maybe longer. Colton will be in the NICU in a different county for months.

<div>The impact has been tragic for the entire family.

<div>Those who know the family know what a blessing Cheyenne is to us all. If you need help, she's the first one there. She will literally give you her last dime to help anyone in need.

<div>At this time, Cheyenne and Colton have a long road of recovery ahead of them. Cheyenne will not be able to work for a very long time, as she herself must heal physically, and she will need to be caring for Colton once he is released from the NICU.
