Help Cheryl Halt Her MS Progression

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Cheryl Gneiser.  I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2013.  MS is a debilitating , progressive disease.  It causes the body's own immune system to attack the protective coating on the nerves in the Central Nervous System.  This causes signals from the brain and spinal cord to "short circuit" throughout your body.  MS is a very personal disease that attacks people differently.  No two people suffer exactly the same.

There is no cure for MS.  However there are medications referred to as DMD's (Disease Modifying Drugs) which are geared to slow progression.  These medications are often expensive and come with serious side effects.   I have been on several and none of these have worked.  My diagnosis has reached a progressive stage meaning it will only worsen.  As much as I dread the thought, soon I will need to be in a wheelchair full time.  And unfortunately, it won't be long before I am bedridden.  My body may be shutting down but my brain still wants to do everything I used to do.  Yes I am 50 years old but am I am not willing to give up and let this Monster win!

That is why I am reaching out for help.  There is a medical procedure that will STOP MS progression.  It is called HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation).  HSCT is a chemotherapy based medical procedure that wipes out your immune system and then reboots it using your own stem cells harvested from blood or bone marrow.  It is not 100% guaranteed but there is an 80% to 90% success rate.  If I don't try this there is a 100% chance my MS will continue and worsen.

This procedure is offered at many places around the world.  It is not available in the U.S.  because it is not FDA approved.  Patients having this treatment would not require further DMD's.  This would be a huge hit for the pharmaceutical industry and therefore the FDA is in no hurry to approve.

I will go to Clinica Ruiz in Puebla, Mexico for 28 days.  I am planning on going the early part of next year.  I am asking for $60,000.00.  The treatment, boarding and all medications is $54,500.00  Because of my diabetes I will need a full time 24/7 caregiver which is $4,000.00.   The DMD I am on now is $65,000.00 per year.  Thankfully I do have good health insurance (will not cover HSCT) that helps pay for that but that is never a guarantee.  With this treatment I will no longer need to be on any DMD.

The thought of undergoing this treatment does not scare me.  The thought of not being able to go and stop my progression SCARES me.

Please help me halt my MS progression.
