Hello. My name is Cassandra. I am making this on behalf of my mother. My stepdad, Ted DeMott passed away on July 7th, 2025 after 53 months of being ill. It was never fully known as to what made Ted so ill in the first place or why he couldn’t get better. Ted was in a hospital bed. Ted was a fighter and my mom refused to give up. This past year, Ted was in and out of the hospital multiple times fighting to survive. My mother ended up taking Ted to University of Michigan, knowing they are some of the best doctors around. The last three weeks of his life he was there and my mother didn’t leave his side. My mother Cheryl was his caretaker. They were married almost 22 years. My mother and Ted loved to travel for their anniversaries, own a sawmill that they both took pride in, loved their grandkids (11 total) and their kids. My mother is a veteran and my stepdad was a retired deputy sheriff of 30 years. I’m just trying to reach out in hopes that she can have some help with hospital bills and cremation costs as they pretty much stopped doing sawmill work when Ted fell ill.
