Help Charlotte rebuild her home and health
Hi everyone,
On Sunday May 16, 2021, my mother Charlotte Davis was involved in a horrible house fire that originated in her kitchen. She managed to escape the fire with the clothes on her back and her dog Zoe. She was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center as a precaution. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with minor burns but then had some discomfort in her chest due to smoke inhalation. They had to intubate her to secure her airways as a precaution so she was moved to Sentara Norfolk General’s burn unit. This morning after passing several tests, she was able to have the tube removed. She is sore, has some discomfort from the burns and sounds pretty bad with her coughing but we are taking it day by day and pray for a complete recovery soon. My sister Peggy and I were finally able to speak to mom tonight and had the difficult time of breaking it to her regarding the condition of her home. Although she may have lost material items and will be displaced from her home for quite some time, she is ALIVE! We can replace things...not HER!
Her home repair is going to be extensive and long going. Estimated amount of time she will be out of her home will be at least 9 months. Mom has no clothes or anything as of right now. I just found out tonight that even the clothes she was wearing were cut off of her at the hospital. I am collecting any clothing anyone may want to donate to help her. She wears a women’s L shirt, 10/12 pants and a size 7 shoe. Also, we would love anything at all to help her with her deductibles and medical expenses as well as other living expenses while out of her home over this recovery and rebuild period. Prayers would also be greatly appreciated too! Thanks you all for your support during such a difficult time.
