Charlotte De Martino, aged 31, daughter of Tina and Erik Olsson, wife of Michael De Martino, mother of Freja (aged 3), Astrid (aged 18 months) and Runa (aged 2 weeks).
Charlotte is a Swedish-born Australian resident who, on Saturday March 6th 2021, suffered a catastrophic brain bleed due to an unforeseen rupture of an Aneurysm. Charlotte was 27 weeks pregnant at the time. The safest course of action for both mother and baby was to perform an emergency Caesarean Section, while simultaneously inserting drain tubes in to her brain to relieve pressure.
Despite the best efforts of the Monash Medical Centre ICU team, Charlotte's condition did not improve. A series of examinations showed no signs of brain activity, and the decision was made to turn off life support. Charlotte passed away peacefully on Saturday the 20th of March in the arms of her loving husband Michael.
The baby, a girl called Runa, is currently in a stable condition in Monash Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
We are asking for your generosity at this impossibly difficult time to raise money for ongoing financial support for Michael, their two toddlers, and their premature baby during what is going to be a very long and difficult road.
