Help my mom beat cancer

Donation protected

Last October our family received some news we never thought we would hear, my mom had a very rare type of cancer - stage 4 thymoma and alongside the cancer was another rare type of autoimmune disorder - myasthenia gravis. She started chemo right away. In November I found out I was pregnant and my mom was so excited, it made her want to fight even harder.

One morning in January, when she was just about at the halfway mark of her chemo course, she woke up and was having a difficult time breathing. We just thought it was something minor and my dad took her to the hospital. Little did we know she would spend the next 4.5 months intubated in the icu. She was never alone, we were there with her everyday, just praying for her to get better.

My mom was determined to get out of the hospital in time for my baby shower, and that’s exactly what she did. And after I had my baby in July she started chemo again, but this time at a lower dose. Shortly after starting this round, she ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and critically low blood levels. We also found out the chemo was ineffective and the cancer had now spread to her liver.

Last week she started a new type of chemo, we are unsure how it will affect her, but we remain hopeful. I was able to get in touch with an oncologist in Indiana whom specializes in thymomas. Once he is finished reviewing her medical records we will set up an appointment to go see him.

Before my mom got sick she worked as an RN. She dedicated her life to taking care of others and now the roles are reversed. This past year has been beyond difficult, but we have had an incredible amount of support from so many amazing people. We are forever grateful for everyone who has been there for us through this trial. Many nights have been spent crying, and pleading with God. I truly cherish every second I get to spend with my mom. She is not only an incredible mother but an amazing grandma as well. My daughter has brought so much love and joy into our lives and she couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

With this trial comes financial hardship. The medical bills starting arriving in the mail within a few weeks of my mom being admitted to the icu, and they just keep coming. All donations will go towards my moms treatments as well as medical bills. Any amount helps, and we appreciate every one of you. ❤️
