<div><strong>Mi nombre es César Gregorio Alvarado López. </strong>Soy biólogo egresado de la Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) y tengo una maestría en Ciencias Bibliotecarias y de Información de la Universidad McGill, en Canadá. Durante más de 32 años trabajé como servidor público en el Instituto Autónomo Biblioteca Nacional y de Servicios de Bibliotecas de Venezuela, dedicando mi vida al servicio de las bibliotecas públicas y la educación en mi país.

<div>En diciembre de 2023 sufrí una fuerte caída que me provocó una fractura severa de la rótula de mi rodilla izquierda. Desde entonces, mi vida ha cambiado profundamente.

<div>Durante el año 2024 fui atendido en el Hospital Pérez Carreño del Instituto Venezolano de los Seguros Sociales. Me realizaron dos cirugías —en mayo y agosto de 2025—, pero ambas fracasaron debido a las difíciles condiciones hospitalarias y a las complicaciones del postoperatorio. Como consecuencia, continúo con dolor, limitaciones para movilizarme y una calidad de vida muy afectada.

<div>Después de estas experiencias, busqué una segunda opinión con el reconocido traumatólogo Dr. Carlos Guillermo Sánchez Valenciano, del Centro Médico de Caracas. Tras nuevos estudios y evaluaciones, el doctor determinó que necesito una cirugía reconstructiva especializada para recuperar la estabilidad y la movilidad de mi rodilla.

<div>La cirugía incluye materiales ortopédicos especializados, hospitalización, resonancia magnética, exámenes preoperatorios y recuperación postoperatoria. El costo estimado es de $25,000 USD, además de gastos adicionales por transporte, alimentación e imprevistos médicos.

<div>In December 2023, I suffered a serious fall that caused a severe fracture to my left kneecap. Since then, my life has changed dramatically.

<div>Throughout 2024, I received treatment at Pérez Carreño Hospital through Venezuela’s public healthcare system. I underwent two surgeries — in May and August 2025 — but unfortunately, both procedures failed due to difficult hospital conditions and postoperative complications. As a result, I continue to live with pain, limited mobility, and a greatly diminished quality of life.

Following new imaging studies and evaluations, he determined that I now require a specialized reconstructive surgery to restore stability and function to my knee.

<div>The procedure includes specialized orthopedic materials, hospitalization, MRI imaging, preoperative testing, and postoperative recovery care. The estimated cost is $25,000 USD, plus related expenses for transportation, meals, and unforeseen medical costs.
