Joseph “Lewi” James Lewis age 28, of Fennimore passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2022 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Joey loved animals, working on his cars, and riding his motorcycle. He could always be found putting a smile on a friend's or family's face. He fell in love with music and is known by thousands of adoring fans as singer and songwriter “Lewi”.

Joey faced more challenges in a typical week than I’ve experienced in my lifetime. The hospital was his second home, he would bring his PlayStation and recording equipment with him for extended stays. Joey was born with a terminal lung disease, Cystic Fibrosis. It viciously attacked his lungs and just about every other organ. In any given year he spent more time in the hospital than out. Despite this, he never showed pain or suffering. Come to think of I can’t think of one single time he complained. He never wanted pity from anyone. As he would get close to being out for two weeks he would need to go in for a "tune up", or an "upgrade" as he would call them.

Joey had a true 1-of-1 outlook on life. Despite the obstacles and challenges, Joey continuously spread love and positivity. He was fearless and lived each day like it was his last. He lived to fuel his friend's and family’s passions. His desire to inspire and drive dreams to reality for everyone he met will be forever unmatched.

In 2019 a new treatment for CF called Trikafta became available. Joey said it gave him several improvements, “the lungs and energy of his once younger self." For the first time his doctors said his lung health was not decreasing and that he could be out of the hospital for longer stays. He was most excited that for the first time in his life he was able to plan something a week in advance. You see Joey lived each day like it was his last and never had the privilege to plan anything more than a few days out as his health at any time would rapidly change.

While there is no cure for CF, he uprooted his life and moved to unfamiliar cities for years on end in hopes of getting a liver and lung transplant. In July, Joey told me doctors had given him less than a year. I asked him if there was any place he wanted to visit or anybody he wanted to meet. Joey said he was blessed to have accomplished his goals. Joey’s only wish was that his father would be looked after and taken care of. That's the type of person Joey was, always putting the needs and concerns of others before himself.

With his selfless, kind, and oh-so-determined mindset Joey accomplished so much. Joey positively impacted all our lives for the better and now we want to help him rest at peace. 100% of the funds go directly to Joey's Family to help with the cost associated with celebrating and laying Joey to rest.
