In September 2024, Cathy Porfidio received the devastating news that she had a Stage Three tumor. With courage and grace, she began a rigorous treatment plan at MD Anderson, including six weeks of targeted radiation and two rounds of chemotherapy. Her doctors were hopeful, and Cathy faced each day with resilience and unwavering faith.

<div>But in May, a routine PET scan and blood work revealed heartbreaking news: the cancer had returned.

<div>Despite this setback, Cathy and her medical team at MD Anderson are not giving up. They’ve recommended a new course of action—alternative treatments that offer hope but are not covered by traditional insurance. These therapies represent Cathy’s best chance at healing and continuing to be the light she is to so many. Cathy has spent her life pouring love and care into others—teaching children, guiding families, and offering comfort and wisdom to everyone around her. Now, it’s our turn to support her.
