HELP CATANDUANES

Donation protected

An extremely powerful Category 5–equivalent super typhoon has recently devastated the Philippines and made its first landfall on an island called Catanduanes - home to over 260,000 people. Super Typhoon Goni (called Rolly in the Philippines) has ravaged the whole Bicol region and Catanduanes has been identified as the hardest hit. Flash floods overwhelmed local villages in the island and roads remain blocked by debris - making it impossible to assess and send help to towns around the island.

Five deaths have already been confirmed with 1 person still missing. There remains no access to drinking water and electricity and communication lines are still down so residents are still unable to contact families outside Catanduanes.

Damages estimated:

Atleast 700M in infrastructure
600M in agriculture (400M abaca industry - island's main product + 200M in other crops)
5 of 11 towns severely damaged
Circumferential road - impassable
At least 10,000 families affected

We are calling for donations in order to help our families affected by this calamity. Basic necessities such as food, water, hygiene needs among others will be provided. Any amount counts!

Dios Mabalos!

UPDATE: Communication lines have been re-established but remains intermittent especially in more remote areas. Relief efforts have begun.
