Help Cat Fight Stage 4 Cancer

Update November 2018: Over the last year I’ve endured surgeries, clinical trial, radiation and continued chemo. The year was filled with lots of ups and downs but I made my way through it all as best I could. Trying to stay positive and faithful in this journey I’m on. Although at times I felt things were not going as planned so I gave it all to God. He seemed to always answer our prayers in some sort of way. Our family has been blessed in many ways. My next set of scans are on the 17th of December and we hope we hear good news on the 18th. As I continue to monitor both kidney areas, both lungs, my liver, my left eye and my back (which lately has been tough) I’ll keep you guys posted.

As the new year approaches us quickly I can’t help but focus on of course my continued good health. However, I also have to meet my $2600 deductible for insurance to cover expenses plus my $8600 out of pocket maximum,

The stage 4 kidney cancer diagnosis wasn’t expected but then again it’s not something you expect or are even prepared for. I’ll continue to live my life each day and make the best of it. Thanks for all the generosity over the last 365 days, I’m truly blessed. Of course I’ll also continue to believe Everything is Happening Perfectly.

Original Story: In October 2017, our dear friend Cat Carosone-Lynn was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She had just turned 50 in March. If you know Cat, she is the person that you would never believe this could happen to. She is the pillar of her family, the strong one, the energizer bunny, constantly helping others, involved in her daughter’s school, and the list goes on and on.

Cat has been a runner for the last five years or so, but this past February she had foot surgery and couldn’t run for about three months. Come May, she decided it was time to start her running again but she would keep telling us, “I just can’t get my breathing back.” We all figured it was just the humidity and the heat. Cat being who she is would keep getting out there and trying.

Come August, she developed a bad cough. She went to the doctor and he said it was allergies; but after two months of a persistent cough, she decided it was time to seek another opinion - so off she went to a pulmonologist. It was after a CAT scan that the doctor knew there was more to it than just a cough. He could see tumors on her lung, as well as on her kidney. We were all in shock. No way could this be happening to Cat! She is the strong one.

She recently had an appointment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. They will be removing her kidney, spleen, and part of her pancreas on November 22nd. Once she has healed from this surgery they will still need to address the tumors on her lung. She doesn’t know her future treatment plan. The doctor’s immediate focus is to remove the tumor.

This family could use your help. About eight years ago her husband was in a serious motorcycle accident and has become disabled. Cat is the one that keeps their family going. We all know that insurance does not pay all the expenses associated with this type of disease. Anything you can give would be a blessing to this family.
