HELP CASS FINISH MED SCHOOL

Dear family, friends, well-wishers and every amazing human who gets to see this;
This is my last resort, a desperate act of hope and belief that miracles still happen and that maybe…just maybe you, could be a part of this miracle.

My name is Bright Iheme and I have been friends since 2003 with Cassandra (Cass) Nworah who is currently a medical student on the verge of dropping out from her final year in Med School.

Cass has always been one to follow her dreams against all odds from the early days of our childhood. That led to her studying Medicine at Shenyang Medical College, China. Being born in Africa and in a home with barely enough, her dreams had sounded like a fable to me and I had merely laughed them off.
But her mum, God bless her soul, had believed in her dream and struggled to sponsor her alone up until her 4th year in Med School.

Just last year, Cass’s mum, her only sponsor battled with a serious terminal illness and sadly passed away. Upon her mother’s death, Cass had to temporary suspend her studies while dealing with the loss. Even worse, she was barely surviving, unable to get jobs since it was illegal for her to work in China. With her meagre savings dwindling and no income ahead, Cass had to return back home. Back home to the land she had left to pursue her dreams and she had to return empty handed.

With only 1 more year left to finish Med School, she is currently interning in a local hospital in Abuja, Nigeria in Africa.
I reached out to her a few days ago and I cannot believe how hard it has become. In a bid to even survive, she has taken to several part-time jobs including freelancing while still interning full-time with the hospital.

She currently has a gross total of $6,000 to pay off and other minor expenses incurred that are part of her remaining 1– year in Med School.

If she fails to raise this money, she will be forced to ultimately drop out of school as she would not be able to sit for further exams and subsequently graduate Med School. There is also the option of leaving one year out to graduate later, but she would have to raise double of the already pending $6,000 which is impossible given her current situation.

As a friend who has become like a sister, I took to heart Cass’s words to believe in my dreams but I stand helpless as I watch hers on the verge of doom. I have done my part in supporting and assisting her with my own contributions, but I am still a student myself, how do I raise $6,000?
In our last call, I listened to her sob bitterly and felt a piece of me break apart with each word she uttered. So I resolved to shamelessly, earnestly and sincerely go on my knees publicly to beg and appeal to the good hearts of humanity. To ask that a miracle be given and that somehow, just somehow, this impossible feat is achieved and my dear friend Cass who has become suicidal out of depression is given a second chance at chasing her dreams again.

No one owes her anything! In fact, this Go fund me isn’t saying she must have $6,000, I don’t even know how this is going to happen, a girl can only dream after all. I am only saying, whatever your heart moves you to contribute, to give to save a cause, then it is enough and you are being a part of this miracle, you’re telling Cass that you believe in her and that the death of her mother is not the death of her dream.

Cass has gathered a few savings from her several part-time jobs, but it is barely up to 5% of what she needs for school. And more so, the deadline to pay up is in a months’ time. Can we reach our target? Can we make this work?
I don’t know. I am tired from worry and crying. We have asked several public organizations and reached out to several support groups, still nothing. This, this is where we take a deep breath. This is where we bow our heads, this is the last stop hopefully.
I am only but a friend trying to be sure that I don’t lose my friend to this battle. I am doing what I know she would do for me and more if the roles were reversed. I am simply being human.

MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN! I BELIEVE. LET’S HELP CASS FINISH MED SCHOOL.
Whatever you can give will go a very long way. Let’s do this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may the good Lord bless and reward you.
