 My beautiful cousin Casey is currently facing something no daughter should ever have to go through. Less than two years after losing her mum to cancer, her dad is now in a coma in the ICU in Thailand following a devastating accident.

 As her family, we want to do everything we possibly can to support Casey and help bring her dad home to Australia, where he can receive the critical care he needs, surrounded by the people who love him.

 Casey has shared the following message in her own words:

 12 days ago, my life changed in an instant.
</div>

 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I received a call from the Department of Foreign Affairs telling me that my dad had been involved in a serious accident in Thailand and was in a coma in the ICU in Bangkok. Within two hours, my husband and I were on a flight to Thailand.

 There are moments in life when everything changes with a single phone call. I know that feeling all too well. Less than two years ago, I lost my mum to cancer. I am an only child, and the thought of potentially losing both of my parents within two years is something I am struggling to put into words.
</div>

 My dad had previously suffered a serious brain injury in a motorcycle accident two years ago. Following a brain bleed, he suffered an epileptic seizure, fell and fractured his skull.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 He was found two days later, alone and unconscious in his hotel room.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Dad had suffered a sudden and serious bleed between his skull and the outer protective covering of his brain. A large blood clot was putting immense pressure on his brain, causing severe swelling and a shift in the brain. He required emergency brain surgery, and part of his skull had to be removed to relieve the pressure and swelling.

 He has since required an endotracheal tube and ventilator to support his breathing and has also developed pneumonia. He sustained a facial fracture as a result of the fall and remains in critical condition under intensive medical care.
</div>

 In the space of 12 days, Dad has undergone multiple emergency brain surgeries. His condition has remained extremely serious, and his medical team has had to save his life multiple times.
</div>

 Dad has now been in a coma for 12 days and counting. He remains in critical condition in the ICU, supported by a breathing tube and receiving 24-hour care from the neurological team.
</div>

 I don’t know what his future will look like. Right now, I am taking things one day at a time and hoping and praying for a miracle.
</div>

 We have already incurred more than $135,000 in medical expenses, including the cost of multiple emergency brain surgeries and ongoing ICU treatment.
</div>

 The cost of keeping Dad in the ICU is approximately $50,000 per week, and the cost of transporting him safely home to Australia is expected to be around $500,000. These figures do not include the long-term care and rehabilitation he is likely to need once he is home.
</div>

 We have been told that, regardless of what the future holds, Dad is likely to require long-term care and ongoing medical support. This is not going to be a short road. There is a long, difficult and uncertain journey ahead of us, involving rehabilitation, specialist care and potentially lifelong support.
