Please Help Casey Get A Hysterectomy

Donation protected
Casey has had problems with her uterus almost her entire life: from endometriosis in her teens (a painful condition which causes the lining of the uterus to grow outside of the uterus, resulting in pain and heavy bleeding) to multiple pregnancy losses and secondary infertility. In the Spring of 2018, Casey’s pain and bleeding worsened significantly. After multiple rounds of blood work, ultrasounds and an endometrial biopsy, in the Spring of 2019 Casey was ultimately diagnosed with adenomyosis (a condition in which the uterine lining grows into the muscle of the uterus, resulting in pain and excessive bleeding). Casey has tried hormonal medications with no success (and multiple debilitating side effects) and eventually her doctor and insurance company at the time agreed that the appropriate treatment would be a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, the company Casey’s husband worked for went out of business and they lost their insurance. His new position only offers a high-deductible insurance plan. Because they have access to an insurance plan, albeit an unaffordable one, Casey is ineligible for medicaid and her surgery would be entirely out of pocket.

Casey has gotten a few quotes on the cost of surgery and everyone seems to be in the neighborhood of $15,000. There will also be pre-op appointments and diagnostics needed (since at this point her most recent lab results are over a year old), so I’ve set the goal of this fundraiser at $16,000. Casey’s condition is steadily worsening to the point that she is no longer able to work and struggles to do basic household tasks due to this condition causing a lot of pain and the constant, heavy bleeding--resulting in anemia and dehydration, which often leaves her feeling dizzy and weak. Casey really just wants to be able to be an active parent for her son and take care of her family, but more and more of her days are spent in bed because of this condition. The truth is nothing will change--and her symptoms will steadily get worse--until Casey’s uterus is removed.

I know money and emotional bandwidth are tight for everyone this year, so thank you for reading this far and for sharing and/or donating if you can. I truly appreciate it.
