Help Carrie Cleary Chase Her Tennis Dreams

I am requesting your support for my wheelchair tennis journey and to help me raise funds for my travel expenses to participate in upcoming tournaments.

Tennis has always been a significant part of my life. I grew up playing able-bodied tennis and pursued it through college. Unfortunately, in 2019, I experienced a life-changing surgical event that left me unable to walk. Despite the challenges, I discovered a new sense of purpose and passion by transitioning to wheelchair tennis. Since 2020, I have been actively involved in the sport. In 2021, I started competing in USTA wheelchair tennis tournaments.

Wheelchair tennis has become more than just a hobby to me; it has become an essential part of my physical and mental well-being. The competition and camaraderie I experience while participating in tournaments keep me motivated to improve my body's fitness. During the past year, I saw a nutritionist and lost 40 pounds. I continue to work out and see my physical therapist to help my body fight the tightness that happens when in a wheelchair. This is all an essential aspect of my fitness regimen.

However, participating in these tournaments incurs significant travel expenses that include hotel accommodations, gas, and tournament registration fees. As an athlete, I am responsible for funding these expenses personally. Unfortunately, the financial burden can be overwhelming, limiting my ability to participate in tournaments and pursue my passion fully.

Therefore, I am reaching out to request your support and ask for your consideration in assisting me with raising funds for my travel expenses. Your support will not only help me continue pursuing my dream and passion, but it will also contribute to my personal growth, physical well-being, and mental resilience.

I have explored various fundraising avenues to support my tennis tournament season. The strategies I use include crowdfunding, searching for scholarships and grants, seeking sponsorships or partnerships and selling natural home décor through my small business, Pinecone Fancy. I am committed to engaging in these fundraising efforts and maintaining an active and transparent communication channel between all supporters and myself. Regular progress updates will be shared through various avenues to ensure donors can witness the impact of their invaluable contributions.
