<div>We've all heard of the infamous ice bucket challenge but many people are unfamiliar with its purpose. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (aka Lou Gehrig's disease), is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ALS causes progressive degeneration of these motor neurons leading to their death. When the motor neurons die, the brain can no longer initiate and control muscle movement. Sadly, there is no cure for ALS. Little by little the horrific disease robs you of your ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe.

<div>Last summer Carolyn Toscano quickly went from working full time running her empire, The Toscano Realty Group to struggling to use her hands to open door locks while showing homes. Simple things such as squatting to pick something up was becoming a challenge. Both feet dropped and her hands severely atrophied, very common symptoms of ALS. After multiple visits with doctors and specialists and after several months of muscular decline, Carolyn was officially diagnosed with this horrific disease at just 45 years old.

<div>Carolyn has always been a fighter and refuses to sit back to watch her self deteriorate. While the cause of ALS is unknown, there is strong belief that certain holistic approaches can slow the progression and in some cases reverse it. Unfortunately insurance companies do not cover the associated costs. Carolyn is determined to heal and we are hoping that everyone can help. She is no longer able to work and we are looking for ways to relieve the financial burden on her and her family to continue the fight. She is currently receiving a variety of daily services at her home such as ozone treatments, physical therapy, acupuncture and she will be starting an intense antibiotic treatment via an IV Hickman placement to address her more recent additional diagnosis of neurological Lyme disease.

<div>Carolyn and her husband Anthony have been paying hundreds of dollars per day out of pocket for medical expenses. We are happy to say that her treatments and visits to functional doctors seem to be keeping her symptoms at bay however there is only so much she can continue to do. The family needs all the help they can get! All funds raised with go directly towards the cost of medical equipment, treatments and home aids and all portions not covered by insurance.
