Help Cancer Patients In Need

In years past I have collected money from my friends and family at Christmas to donate to cancer patients in need of financial assistance. Every dollar donated goes directly toward the purchase of items that low-income patients need to get through their cancer treatment. Examples of how your donations are spent include: the purchase of ointments that help lessen the severity of skin reactions caused by radiation therapy, amino acid supplements that have been shown to reduce ulcers in the mouth and esophagus caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, gas cards and bus fare to assist patients who need to travel to the hospital for daily radiation treatments. Too often I have encountered patients who are forced with the difficult decision of whether to buy groceries for their families or buy the ointments/supplements that help them complete their cancer therapy.
