Help cancer fighter repair her childhood home

Debbie Ebeley, 60, of Palmerton, Pa. is in desperate need to raise funds to repair her severely damaged roof and inside ceilings due to water leakage.

Debbie is battling stage 4 breast cancer and a healthy living environment is vital for her healing.

Debbie was adopted by her grandparents when she was a child. Her grandparents built their home in 1948. As an adult, Debbie lived at home with her grandparents and was their caregiver and companion. They passed away when she was in her 40s. Debbie inherited their home and it provides her with healing comfort in this difficult time.

Now her childhood home is in serious need of roof repairs (tarps are currently over the roof to help reduce leaks). Water damage has occurred to inside ceilings. All of this is a risk to Debbie’s health.

Debbie is on public assistance for her health care and cannot afford a loan to repair her roof. With assistance from a friend, she has learned that she does not qualify for local programs to help repair her roof.

Debbie’s immune system is low and she has beloved pet birds that have sensitive lungs.

“This is the only home I’ve ever known and I’m desperate to save it,” Debbie recently said.

With roof estimates gathered, we know $8,000 is the minimum amount of money needed to replace/repair her roof and patch her ceilings, hopefully before winter.

Over the years, Debbie has worked as a waitress/hostess, bookstore clerk, home health aide and courier. She has volunteered at Palmerton Hospital’s The Owl’s Nest gift shop and a Catholic Charities thrift store. She has also been an animal rescue volunteer.

Debbie is a Christian and has devoted her life to helping people and animals, so please help her with this quest to raise money to repair her home.
