Canadian Comic Relief Fund

Covid-19 has been in Canada for an entire year now. It has taken away a lot from all of us - but especially live entertainers. Right now, Canadian comedy needs your help! One Last Shot Productions and Yuk Yuk's have teamed up to create the Canadian Comic Relief Fund to help Canada's talented and struggling comedic performers and writers. 

With the constant on-and-off again closures of comedy clubs and theatres, and very limited seating when open - you can imagine what a year of this pandemic has done to comedians who depend on live shows to generate income. And unfortunately, in Canada, stand-up comedy is not recognized as an artform yet, so their is very little financial aid available to comedians. Please help support the Canadian Comedy Industry so we can keep the laughter alive during these trying times.

This fundraiser is being organized by Ottawa comedians Scott Rawson Brown, Jean-François Frenette, and Simone Holder.
Back in March 2020 when the first wave hit Canada, an amazing team of volunteers, as well as the Canadian Association of Stand-up Comedians created the Emergency Relief Fund for Canadian Comedians. They successfully raised over $33,000 to help Canadian comedians. We are proud to partner with team members Derek Forgie, Sandra Battaglini, and Johanne Britton once again.


Comedians will be able to submit an application for a portion of the funds, and comedians will be chosen at random to receive $500 grants. 

CRITERIA:
To receive assistance from this fund you must:

 - Identify as a professional comedian in stand-up, sketch or improv
 - Be a Canadian citizen, or landed immigrant
 - primary source of income comes from comedy (no hobby amateurs)
 - Demonstrate your immediate need
 - Provide proof of your most recent live performance, or a recently cancelled performance (roughly between March 2020 and March 2021), through video, flyer, Facebook event, promo material etc
- Only enter your name once
