Help Caleb fight Cancer

It was just a few days ago that Caleb and his mom, Yvonne, got the news, Caleb has cancer. Caleb is 16 years old and a junior at Parkway High School in Bossier City, LA. He's a quiet young man who loves video games and his dog, Sammy. He has big brother, Donavan, who is in Tech Graduate School in Ruston, LA.
Caleb was having pain in his knee which started a few months ago. Initially, upon visiting with a doctor, he got a knee brace and some anti-inflammatory meds....but it kept hurting. When his mom took him to the doctor a couple of weeks ago, it was quite a different story. After an x-ray, the doctor sent Caleb straight to Shriner's Hospital, and soon thereafter, he was referred to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. There, a bone scan and a biopsy was done, and in a few days, the doctors delivered the news....Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The last two weeks have been a whirlwind and very overwhelming, but the good news is that the cancer is localized in the knee and hasn't spread, but it will be a long, tough road to recovery.
Yvonne, Caleb's mom, is completely devastated. While trying to continue to work, she needs to focus on doing everything in her power to help Caleb through this journey to recovery. Yvonne is a single mom who works as an independent contractor in a real estate office. She is a closing coordinator who helps Realtors and clients go from contract to the closing table. As an independent contractor, her income is not steady or predictable. While she will continue working, she and Caleb are going to need some help financially.
Caleb is heading to Baton Rouge now to begin chemotherapy treatment. His surgeon will place a port in his arm and chemo begins in a couple of days. It's a scary time for him and his family. I am a friend and co-worker who thinks the world of Yvonne. I am also a cancer survivor who had help from people I knew and some I didn't know. I know that it is an incredible blessing to receive help from people who care. I will post updates and pictures throughout his journey. Thank you for your help, support and prayers for Caleb.
