Help Build Homes in Karachi, Pakistan

Assalamo Alaikum,

This fundraiser is run by Pyar Ali Rawjani and Syeda Farzana Zaidi to raise funds for underprivileged families in Karachi, Pakistan whose homes have been completely wrecked and are not in habitable conditions.

We started this project in September this year in Madina Collony, Khoprapar, Malir, Karachi, Pakistan.
With no doubt, poverty is a major growing concern in Pakistan and the Covid-19 Pandemic has only worsened the situation.  Thousands of Pakistanis are left jobless and do not have access to the basic necessities of life including adequate shelter.

To make matters worse, this year Karachi received terrible monsoon rains which further wrecked the neighborhood's  already broken homes. We witnessed people's lives fall apart firsthand and decided to help as much as we could starting by building them adequate homes and providing them with some basic necessities. So far we have helped one family and with your help we aim to make a difference in the lives of many more.

Within the same neighborhood, we have recently identified 4 more families that require urgent help to rebuild their homes. The rains this year have totally wrecked their homes to the point where the roof can fall over their head at any minute possibly resulting in severe casualties if they are not immediately helped. Moreover, all their belongings have been destroyed. These families do not have the financial means to do anything about it. We have attached links to video of their homes below.

Our goal is to keep finding more families that desperately need aid and help them one at a time before the holy month of Ramadan, and with your help, we are confident we can keep adding more families to the list and make a difference in the lives of many more.

We are happy to provide any progress reports, receipts and results to all of our donors. If you have any further questions regarding our project, feel free to contact Pyar Ali Rawjani at: [email redacted]

Below is a little bit about a family that we helped this year. We have also attached a video showing the work we have done.

This is a family of 10 people. The entire household depends on one family member who is deaf and sells small perfume refill bottles and earns Rs. 200 ($1.50 USD per day which is equivalent to $30 per month.)

Members of the family include an aged mother who is 71 years old and a patient of asthma as well as 6 little children - none that go to school due to a lack of financial means.

Their home was built 4 feet below the ground which resulted in their entire house getting flooded every time it rained. All their belongings were completely damaged. The roof was completely damaged as well and ready to collapse with just a few more rainfalls. We demolished the entire house and rebuilt it from the ground up whilst proving alternate accommodation to the family during the renovation.

The total cost of rebuilding this family's home was: $3,580 USD. (Rs. 580, 000) which was raised by friends, family and generous donors.  We also provided the family with a month's worth of groceries and other necessities they lost such as clothes and cooking utensils.
