Help Bubba Get Emergency Medical Care
My name is Ashley Williams. I'm twenty years old and I've had my cat, Bubba, since I was fifteen. He is a five and a half year old polydactyl, which means he has thumbs (and is especially cute). I adopted him from Franklin Animal Shelter a few weeks after my best friend was murdered, and we have been inseparable ever since. He means the world to me.
We have three cats and two dogs. One of our dogs is an eight year old german shepherd. They're best friends and play all the time. These two have lived together since we adopted Bubba in December 2015. And yet, around 4:30 in the morning on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, my mother woke up to my cat screaming in pain in her bedroom. He was gurgling blood and bleeding from his eyes, nose, and mouth. Immediately, she rushed him to Crown Veterinary Specialists in Lebanon, New Jersey as I was not home at the time.
I used every dime of my savings on putting a down payment on his medical care, and I have absolutely no other money. I don't get paid at work until next Thursday. They've quoted $4,803.07 for his care, although it could be slightly less or more. His known injuries so far are a puncture wound on the top of his head, which fractured his skull and punctured his nasal cavity, lacerations on the skull, and a laceration on his tongue. There is inflammation all around the puncture wound, which is dangerous since it is so close to his brain. His right eye is developing a glaucoma due to the pressure from the trauma. His left eye has a tear, but the cornea is fine.
Anything you can contribute, even a dollar, is so, so appreciated. The need is urgent. The vet expects the rest of the payment when he gets discharged, which could be anywhere from tomorrow to later this week depending on how well his CT scan and surgery go today. Bubba is my entire world, as any of my friends or family can tell you, and I have always said I would spend (and now have spent) my last dime on making sure he is okay.
Attached you'll find pictures of Bubba's vet bills, Bubba, and our german shepherd, Brandi. It's clear this was NOT intentional on our dog's part; the vet agreed if she had truly intended to hurt him, she would have killed him. She's 104 pounds and much, much bigger than he is. We believe he may have jumped on her in her sleep and scared her.
