Bruce’s Heart Transplant Update

We’re so thankful to share that Bruce has received his heart transplant! This amazing gift has given us new hope and a fresh start.

Recovery is still a long road — Bruce is undergoing biweekly heart biopsies to check for rejection, along with ongoing therapy and home health care. Each day brings new progress, and we’re beyond grateful for the strength and resilience he’s shown.

Your continued generosity helps us manage the many medical and recovery costs that come with this journey. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support — we truly couldn’t do this without you.

With gratitude,
Sue, Bruce, & Family

Hi, my name is Sue, and I’m writing this on behalf of myself and Bruce’s daughters. Our beloved Bruce has been in the hospital since April 9th, and after months of tests, surgery, and setbacks, he is now in Cardiac Intensive Care, awaiting a heart transplant — his only chance at survival.

Years ago, Bruce was struck by lightning and underwent both a triple bypass and an aortic valve replacement. At the time, he recovered and returned to work like nothing could stop him — but we’ve since learned that the damage to his heart was much more severe than anyone knew.

Despite it all, Bruce never stopped working. He has spent his life restoring cars and semi-trucks, always using his hands and heart to rebuild what’s broken — including in the lives of the people around him. He’s the first to help friends, family, or even strangers in need. Now, for the first time, he’s the one who needs help.

Bruce has spent most of the last three months in the hospital and hasn’t been able to work. I’ve continued working full-time as a waitress, but the financial burden is mounting fast. Between lost income and what lies ahead, it’s more than we can manage on our own.

After the transplant, Bruce will need around-the-clock home health care for at least four months, and likely ongoing support for a year or more. The recovery will be long and demanding. We will also need help covering professional in-home care, medications, and follow-up appointments.

Funds Raised Will Help Cover:
• Out-of-pocket medical and transplant-related costs
• Several months of 24/7 home health care after surgery

Bruce is a husband, a father, a grandfather, a proud tradesman, and a loyal friend. He has always shown up for others — now we’re asking for help to show up for him. Whether you're able to donate or simply share this page, it means the world to our family. Your support gives Bruce a fighting chance at a longer life, more time with his family, and the future he deserves.

With deep gratitude, Sue and Bruce.
