<div>Recently, the city council made the decision to amend Brookside's liquor license which has significantly reduced our outdoor service area. We believe this action is unfair and have <strong>filed an appeal</strong> of this decision for the good of our business and our community.

<div>This change has caused us to cancel the remainder of the Brookside Summer Music Series for 2024. As we shared previously, the City of Marine on St. Croix took action to amend our liquor license on July 11, 2024. This amendment limits service and consumption of alcohol to only “hardscape areas” and excludes the grassy area on our property that has for many years been used by our guests during music events. The impact of this change to our customer experience, patio operations, staff, and sales is significant. We also recognize the significant impact to our bands/performers, community, and local businesses. Despite careful consideration of many different scenarios, we reached the conclusion that hosting music for the remainder of the summer would not represent the type of Brookside experience our guests have come to enjoy, nor would it be financially viable for us to continue to do so within such a reduced service footprint. We understand that this decision will disappoint and frustrate many and perhaps will be met with enthusiasm by a small few. In either case, we hope you’ll continue visiting Brookside as well as our neighboring businesses as often as you can for the remainder of the Summer. We have not given up on the rich summer music tradition that has become part of Brookside’s DNA and will be working hard to address the circumstances that led us to this difficult decision.

<div>The legal support necessary to do so is unfortunately very costly. That’s why we are asking for your support. Your generous donations will help cover the costs of appealing this decision and taking the necessary steps to reverse it.
