Brooke is one of those incredible souls who lights up whatever room she enters. Through a lifetime of challenges, she has never once complained or asked, “Why me?” Instead, Brooke remains a loving, vibrant, and selfless friend, partner, and mother. Many of you know Brooke and Jon, along with their son, Nicholas, but you may not know the journey Brooke’s health has taken them on.
In 2011, Brooke was diagnosed with a progressive form of muscular dystrophy called Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT). This disease causes muscle weakening and atrophy in her arms, hands, legs, and feet. Despite knowing the path ahead would be difficult, Brooke pushed forward with strength and optimism. She met Jon, who shared her dream of having a family, and together they welcomed Nicholas into the world after a challenging pregnancy.
Not long after Nicholas was born, Brooke was diagnosed with a heart condition, Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT). Most cases of SVT are manageable, but Brooke’s condition was rare—her heart had issues in all four chambers, requiring multiple surgeries. Still, she kept her spirit bright, remaining a caring, loving presence in everyone’s life.
In recent years, Brooke faced another health scare. A concussion led to brain scans, revealing an aneurysm in a dangerous spot of her brain. She underwent three brain procedures, facing each one with her characteristic courage. Even while enduring these setbacks, Brooke has always been the first to lend a helping hand, supporting Jon, homeschooling Nicholas, helping on the family farm, and caring for loved ones.
Now, Brooke is facing another hurdle. Her CMT is progressing, impacting her lower legs and feet to a degree that requires extensive surgery. On November 8th, she will undergo a major operation in hopes of remaining on her feet for as long as possible, though the outcome remains uncertain. The recovery will be challenging and costly, affecting the family’s daily life for at least 6 months.
Brooke and Jon would never ask for help, but as her friends and family, we want to rally around them to ease the financial burden and provide some extra support. Donations will go toward Brooke’s medical needs and essential living expenses as she focuses on her recovery.
If you can’t contribute financially, please keep Brooke, Jon, and Nicholas in your prayers as they navigate the months ahead. Let’s show them that they’re surrounded by a community who cares. Thank you for any way you’re able to support!
