Help Brittany and Baby Colton's NICU Journey

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I’m Judith, Brittany’s little sister. My family and I would first and foremost like to ask for your prayers as we’re navigating an unexpected journey. Brittany was 34 weeks pregnant when we all headed to Florida for a family vacation. In her words below, you’ll find the details of how we got to this point but we would humbly ask for anyone who can and feels led to, to help Brittany and Traves out financially. They had their sweet baby boy 6 weeks early and out of state—needless to say, they’ll have many financial hurdles to face and I’d love to help ease that burden for them. You can read her words below for the details of this past week.
Again, we are genuinely so thankful for all of the support and prayers—they’re deeply comforting.

from Brittany:

“On July 1st my Dr ordered some labs to address some pain I’d been having. On July 2nd we left to come to Palm Coast, FL with my whole family. At about 4:45 pm on July 3rd my Dr called saying I needed to find the closest hospital with a NICU just in case. Traves and I got in the car and drove to the hospital closest which is in St Augustine. My labs on July 2nd showed elevated liver enzymes. My platelet count was 85k. My platelets a month prior had been 180K. When we got to the hospital, they told us they were redoing the labs and if they came back better they would let us drive home to deliver in Greer. Unfortunately these labs showed my platelet count was 65k dropping 20k in 24 hours. We called my DR who said I was very sick and risked seizures and death if they didn’t take Colton within the hour. I was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome which is a severe form of preeclampsia .
So on day 2 of our vacation, we had an emergency c section at 34 weeks in st Augustine Florida. Our sweet Colton was born on 7/3 at 10:11 pm weighing 4lbs 7 ozs and 17 inches long. I was completely put under. So I had to wait until this afternoon to meet our sweet boy. We still aren’t able to hold him and he will be in the NICU for a couple weeks. Traves and I will be stuck in Florida for at least another 2 weeks. Waiting for Colton to be stable enough to come home.

Please keep us and Colton and our girls in your prayers while we navigate a scary and unfamiliar road. Our girls don’t understand why we aren’t able to be with them right now. We are all very excited to have the final addition to our family but are so ready to have him with us normally so we can hold and snuggle him and be back with our girls. ”
