Help bring the puppies home to the US

We are thankful for those who have been supportive of The Girls throughout the journey with us. As most may remember, my daughter and I discovered Gracie and Maggie in an abandoned building while my daughter was visiting me in China where I teach English. The Girls were abandoned in a trash heap at about six weeks old, left with nothing but dried up takeout noodles. Had we been in the states, we would have turned them over to a shelter, but as some may know, the culture in China is much different in regards to animals, which made that option difficult, and almost non-existent. Because of this, as well as our extreme love of animals, The Girls have been living with me at my university in China. Then there was a global pandemic...

Gracie and Maggie had been staying at a dog groomer/boarding shop while I traveled in Vietnam during the Chinese holiday. Amidst my travels, the spread of COVID-19 caused my university to not allow me to return and immediately sent me back to the States with just the few clothes I had with me. Left in China are the entirety of my belongings, and sadly, my puppies, Gracie and Maggie. While I knew it would be difficult to bring them back to the States, I never imagined I wouldn't be able to bring them back on my own. In addition to this, I fear that my unknown return date could cause them to be sent to a foster home, which heightens the possibility that I may never see them again.
I have offered my entire paycheck to those watching them in hopes that the financial extension keeps them with contacts that I know, but I fear my lack of financial capabilities beyond this paycheck will only make the security of this situation temporary.

While I am aware that the pandemic has caused widespread hardship and fears, I am hoping that the animal lovers in the world remember the things that continue to brighten our days in the bleakest of times: our fur babies. Before the pandemic, I was working with a woman who rescues dogs from the Chinese meat markets. The rock bottom costs for all customs, US agriculture, and the flight was $2000. I hope this price still holds. If not, going through the airlines costs $4500 for both puppies. If I am not able to get back quickly, their board, eventual transport to Beijing for both customs visits, and the eventual flight out needs to be covered. We need about $7500 dollars to ensure The Girls get taken care of and kept at their current location, as well as payment for their flights back to the States following the end of the pandemic.

This figure is overwhelming to ask for. I hope that fate allows for the lower costs. Anything leftover will be donated to the woman who year-round uses her connections to rescue dogs that would be slaughtered for their meat.

Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated, and if you cannot, which we understand, please just give my Girls a share to others who consider pets to be family. I am distraught at the idea of losing them and hope that through these hard times, everyone can resonate with how helping others can make us feel full. To pet lovers everywhere, help me bring my puppies home ❤

Thank you for your consideration in helping me give Gracie and Maggie a loving permanent home.
