For 36 years, I’ve taught students to fall in love with stories. Now, I’ve taken my love of stories and written the first book in a new picture-book series for children ages 3–7. 
 
Stroodi Steps Up is inspired by the courage I’ve seen in my students and by my beloved dachshund Strudel. It follows a sassy, yet timid dachshund named Stroodi who discovers confidence and the power of small, courageous moments. 
 
To bring Stroodi’s journey fully to life, I’m seeking support for professional illustrations. 
 
For young readers, illustrations are essential because they are how the story is understood and felt. The right artwork helps children recognize emotions, follow the narrative, and see themselves in the story. Professional illustrations will allow Stroodi’s world to feel warm, expressive, and emotionally accessible. 
 
Funds raised through this campaign will help bring Stroodi's Big Small Steps to life through character designs, cover artwork, full page spreads, and final digitized illustrations. Any additional funds raised will support the next steps toward publication, including design and printing costs.
