Help Bring Our Grandmother Home!

Hi my name is Marisol Soto and I have been on a mission for a year and a half now trying to get my grandmother out of Puerto Rico to come live with us in New Jersey. My grandmother, Luz Morales, has been living in her home for the past 39 years. Unfortunately, last year when I went to visit her I found her to be living in extremely poor conditions..physically and living wise. My cousin who lives next door to her was supposed to be taking care of her, but to our suprise she was not. Her house was in such poor living conditions and my grandmother was so thin that my first reaction was I needed to get her out of here! I was taking her out of the home to protect her and the authorities was called on me by my cousin who was not taking care of her. I explained to the authorites that I was taking her out of that home to protect her from the horrible living conditions. The authorities swept my side of the story under the rug and decided to call Family Services instead. At the time I thought they were helping me in trying to get her to NJ. It did not happened that way. They put her in a nursing facility which in terms were also abusing her. They would not feed her or bathe her for days. Before going into the facility she was able to walk and use the bathroom on her own, but in the facility they would strap her down in a wheelchair for hours and also would let her sit in her feces. They had her strapped to the wheelchair incorrectly and also tied her to a fence when she wanted to move around the facility. I took the precautions to try to fight for her in the court system with no success. I have physical evidence that she is being abused in this nursing home. I have lost my job. I have lost my relationship with my significant other trying to get her home so she can spend the rest of her years with family that loves her. But unfortunately I have spent alot of money and I keep getting shut down by the court system. Right now my mom, older sister, and niece flew out here to Puerto Rico to surprise me and when they had visited our grandma they found her in these poor conditions where the owner of the home denied them to give our grandma food. This women made my sister pull food out of my grandma’s mouth! It was inhumane behavior to do so and broke all our hearts to see our grandma in these conditions. We do have to go to court to fight for her, so we are trying to raise some funds to be able to do my defense all over again. We have managed to get her out of that awful facility but time is running out and we just want to bring her home!! Anything donated will be very well appreciated! Thank you
