<div><em>*NOTE: *</em> We are deeply grateful for everyone who has supported, shared, and donated to my dad's GoFundMe. Thanks to all of you, we've raised $11,045 so far. This means so much to our family and helped get our father home just in time for Christmas, my birthday, and the start of the new year, which means the world to us after having been apart for so long.

<div>Hello everyone, my name is Tanya Martinez-Salazar, and on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, my dad was detained by ICE.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That morning, after making breakfast and school lunches for my sisters and me, Oscar Martinez Gomez left for work at around 10 a.m. He never made it. My dad was stopped and detained by ICE agents, leaving behind his work truck, tools, belongings, and even coffee he hadn't sipped yet. He was taken to a facility 4 hours away from our home in Detroit, Michigan. We were not contacted until Wednesday, September 24th at 1pm after depositing money into his commissary.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Oscar was pulled over without cause—no paperwork was shown. Instead, an agent simply flashed a phone as “proof,” but information like that is not carried around in an officer’s phone. This was racial profiling, not due process
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Oscar began working as a self-employed contractor shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic. He does not have a set salary or paid leave: If he does not work; he does not get paid. My dad is the hardest worker I know and my biggest inspiration to keep working hard for our dreams. He taught me my first passion in life, drawing. He shared portraits he drew, as well as how to hold and control the Home Depot pencils he’d let me borrow from work to share with me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My dad keeps our family afloat alongside my mom, Alma E. Salazar Rodriguez. My mother works the night shift as a janitor at a Ford plant, but her income is not enough to support our household. My family consists of my twin sisters, mother, father, and our dog. To make matters more challenging, my mom is not fluent in English, so we must also cover the costs of legal translators. As the oldest daughter, I am doing all I can, but I am not legally qualified to manage the complex legal system alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am a freshman college commuter; it is my fifth week of college. Oscar came here in search of a better life, and I am fulfilling that dream by being a first-generation college student. I would love to continue my education, but with bills piling up and my father detained, our family is struggling just to get by.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We need help covering Oscars' legal costs—including a lawyer, potential bond, and required paperwork—as well as supplementing our family’s lost income while he is currently detained. Any amount helps us move one step closer to bringing our dad back home. If you are unable to donate, please share this page to share our story.

<div>Thank you for taking the time to read our story. My family and I are deeply grateful for any support that helps us in our fight to stay together.

<div>—————————————————————————————————————
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
No llegó.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
