"You can never do that! Are you insane?! Give it up already!" are the answers I received from naysayers that don't understand my passion or vision. It took a while to realize that I am was too scared or not challenged enough to do what I love! That realization is coming to an end! Crazy to say that even in my early 30's I am still confused and lost about what I'm supposed to do! I often find myself reinventing my creative ideas and switching between the world of fashion and tech.
I have kick-started projects for the past ten years, and is currently, I am working as a visual designer, managing a creative house that helps contribute design works to small businesses. You would think it would be enough, but I continually find myself going back to fashion! I guess it's true what they say, you can run from it, but eventually, your passion will call you back. I thought enrolling in fashion school would show me who I am as a fashion designer, but all it did was set me up for a path to decide when I am ready.
I must say that school was tough, and regularly, I found myself in a polarizing situation. I have always wanted to show in NYC fashion week, debuting my first graduate collection. But, that never happened. Seven years since school. I am staring at my sewing machine and dress form. I was confident that I had retired it back in 2017.
However, the idea of sending my looks down the runway was something I have always been dreaming of doing after months of planning and starting new startup companies for other people and having it be a learning curve for my professional career well. I learned that I should never give up on my dream! If you don't have a college degree, you'll need to prove your worth when doing something you believe. Often, the most outstanding work comes from the determination and sacrifice you give to make that idea come true.
So here is my plan. I hope to start my womenswear line now this year. Today! I am giving myself enough padding until the actual show. I hope to show my collection in collaboration with BayArea designers and new labels in 2024. I will document my process through my fashion drawing channel so you guys can keep up with my timeline. It's about time I start something and finishing it. MAYBE THIS WILL ACT AS my love letter to the world of fashion.
Suppose you wish to help and support my journey. Donations are welcomed.
Your contributions will go towards fabrics, materials, patterns, seamstress, production team, models, beauty, and outreach.
