HELP ME BRING BACK OUR AIR RAID SIREN

Having lived all my life local to this siren, located on Briers Avenue in Hastings, like many people from the town I would pass it daily and glance at this piece of history as I passed.

Sadly in December 2018 the siren was removed. My father predicted it would happen. One day you'll drive past and it would be gone. Sadly, he was right.

I decided to find out what had happened to the siren, and started phoning various departments to see if they knew anything. After many months with little to go on, I reached out to the community for help. Luckily this lead to a breakthrough and I made contact with the owner of Hastings' last surviving air raid siren!

Messages were exchanged and it became clear that there was a very real chance of being able to buy the siren and return it to Hastings. It is currently under restoration and would make a very fitting addition to a local museum.

This is where I need your help. I am not able to purchase this on my own. My months of searching for this siren has always been driven by the desire to bring it back to Hastings for the people of the town to see a piece of its wartime history. The siren is a very evocative sound that sums up the terror of daily air raids, warning the town of the danger approaching.

Please do consider donating to this project. Even just sharing this page could help to reach the target, and every penny raised will help this project to bring this iconic piece of history back home.
