Help Bring Jessie Home

Many of you know Carlos and Jessie Ochoa. You know them as being the hard working, soccer loving, kid watching, die-hard Sporting KC fans that we’ve grown to love. What many of you don’t know is what they are currently going through. For the last two years Carlos and Jessie have been working with the US and Mexican governments, along with their lawyers, to complete all the necessary paperwork and meet every last requirement necessary to obtain something most of us take for granted: the ability for Jessie to live freely here in the US.

A few weeks ago Carlos and Jessie were at the end of this journey. The trip to Mexico had been planned. All the paperwork had been signed. After picking up one more piece of paperwork in Mexico, Jessie headed to her meeting at the US Consulate. But something went wrong in the meeting. Her application was denied due in part to some incorrect/missing paperwork. Because of this, Jessie was not allowed to return to her home here in Olathe, KS.

This is her home where she has lived for the last 9 years, where her friends are, where she plays soccer, where she babysits kids, where she loves on her dogs Indy and Teddy. But most importantly, this is where her husband is and she’s not able to be here with him. In all the years Carlos and Jessie have been married, they have never spent a single night apart from each other. And now they have been ripped apart, living in two different countries until this gets straightened out.

Carlos and Jessie’s lawyers are working extremely hard on getting Jessie back to all of us here in the states. Our local and state representatives are helping as well. But all of this help comes at a cost which continues to add up quickly for our friends. This is where we have an opportunity to help this amazing couple who are both friends AND family to so many of us.
