Hi everyone! I’m Sebastian, the developer behind Flashes for Bluesky - a 3rd party app for the Bluesky social network that makes it easy to share and explore photos and videos.

Right now, Flashes is only available on iOS, but I want to change that. Android users deserve a great Bluesky photo-sharing experience too! That’s why I’m launching this GoFundMe campaign to fund Android development. With your support, I can bring Flashes to Android as soon as possible.

The Goal

I’m aiming to raise $40,000 to cover development costs and ensure a high-quality, accessible Android release.

First beta in 3–4 weeks (basic features)

Full version within ~2 months (if all goes well)

I’m an independent developer, and while I’ve been working on Flashes solo, developing for Android takes time and resources. This funding will help cover development costs, testing, and everything needed to make Flashes work smoothly on Android.

Breaking Away from Big Tech

Flashes isn’t just another photo app—it’s part of something bigger. Bluesky and the AT Protocol (ATProto) give users control over their data, breaking away from the closed, ad-driven ecosystems of Big Tech.

On Bluesky, your posts, your network, and even your account aren’t tied to one company—you decide where to host your identity. Flashes is built with that same mindset: No tracking, no ads—just a simple, beautiful way to share and enjoy photos.

Why Support This?

You get Flashes on Android—sooner rather than later!

It keeps the app independent and ad-free.

Bluesky grows with better apps for everyone.

You’re supporting an open, federated social web.

How You Can Help

Donate—every contribution, big or small, helps!

Share this campaign with friends & fellow Bluesky users.

Spread the word on Bluesky, Twitter, Mastodon, Instagram, Threads and beyond.

I appreciate every bit of support, and I can’t wait to bring Flashes to Android with your help! Let’s make this happen together!

Thank you so much,

Sebastian
