South Liverpool Cricket Club is embarking on an exciting journey to restore cricket to Torr Park Cricket Field in Eastham after 10 long years, and we need YOUR help to make this dream a reality!
South Liverpool Cricket Foundation is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1182684), and we are proud to have a dedicated group of volunteers who are giving up their valuable time and effort to make this project happen. Together, we are committed to revitalizing Torr Park and creating a thriving cricket hub for the entire community.
Bringing Life Back to Torr Park
Torr Park has been disused for nearly a decade, but it was once a vibrant cricketing hub. A place where people from all walks of life and abilities came together to play, learn, and celebrate the game of cricket. It provided Eastham Village with a treasured sporting facility and a sense of unity.
We want to bring back that energy and more. By restoring Torr Park, we’re not just creating a cricket ground; we’re reigniting a community spirit, fostering inclusivity, and building a space where everyone—men, women, and children—can thrive through sports.
A Legacy of Passion and Growth
Founded in 2018, South Liverpool Cricket Club began as a Sunday cricket team. Since then, we've grown leaps and bounds:
- By 2019, we fielded two teams—one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
- Year after year, we've achieved success, winning multiple trophies and bringing pride to our community.
- In 2022, we launched our Ladies’ section, which won a trophy in its very first year!
- Today, we proudly run 2 Men's League Teams (Saturday and Sunday), T20 Team, and 3 Ladies’ Teams.
Looking ahead, we're gearing up to launch a third Men’s team and a Kids’ section, ensuring cricket is accessible to everyone in our community.
The Challenge: A Home of Our Own
For years, we've faced a significant hurdle—we’ve never had our own ground. This has limited our ability to grow and engage with the community fully.
But now, we have an incredible opportunity! We've signed a lease agreement with the Wirral Council to use Torr Park Cricket Field, giving us the chance to create a permanent home for cricket in Eastham.
Why We Need Your Help
To restore Torr Park and make it playable, we need to:
- Prepare the cricket pitches
- Renovate the pavilion to ensure it’s functional and welcoming
The total cost is estimated at £15,000. With your generous contributions, we can create a space where:
- Men, women, and children can play cricket
- Community members can participate in cricketing activities
- The local area benefits from a vibrant, inclusive sports hub
