Search and recovery efforts continued for Bergman P. Nelson I, who fell through the ice on Nov. 1, 2025, in Kotzebue, AK. Search efforts are still ongoing to recover my beloved husband’s body and will continue until he is brought home to his wife, Charlotte Rose Nelson, and their children. We are very grateful for all the help that has been given to us during our time of need. No words can express how grateful we are.
I was asked by the NWAB Mayor, Dickie Moto, to continue raising money for the search efforts for my husband, Bergman. The search effort will not stop, but we are in need of more financial support to continue the efforts. Any help you can offer will help to bring my husband home so that we can have closure.
Any funds received will be used to continue the search efforts for my husband, and any additional funds received will be used for future search needs for others in the Nana Region.
Thank you for your time, your prayers, and for your contribution to our cause.
Who is Bergman Nelson? A father, a grandfather, and an Iñupiat hunter who valued our tradition to share. He specifically shared his catch of caribou, brants, geese, salmon, bearded seal, and beluga with the elders. He loved providing for those who had no means to provide for themselves the food from our land, air, and waters. He fought for the rights of the people using his voice to save our land and waters, to save our fish and other wild mammals and animals. To save what is OURS as the people of our land.
Taikuu.
