I’m Aasiyah, a filmmaker, singer, musician and writer with a deep love for storytelling, history, and my heritage. I’m creating a powerful Afro-surrealist film inspired by my Louisiana Creole, Gullah Geechee and indigenous roots blending ancestral memory, spiritual realism, and historical truth into one cinematic experience.
This film isn’t just art. It’s a movement, an ode to marginalized communities. It uplifts the voices of Black and Indigenous Southern communities, tells untold stories of survival and resilience, and explores themes like colonialism, the Great Migration, and cultural erasure. It’s mainly Southern Gothic folklore with a healing twist raw, poetic, haunting, and empowering.
But as an independent filmmaker without studio backing, I need your help to bring this vision to life. Your support will fund:
• Production costs: cast, crew, equipment, and set locations across the Deep South
• Post-production: editing, music, sound design, and color
• Film festival submissions to help reach global audiences
• Marketing and distribution to uplift these stories beyond borders
Even $10 makes a difference. Help me share our culture, our spirits, and our truths through film. Let’s make something unforgettable together
