help Bridget heal from a corneal ulcer ️

on Tuesday, March 4, my wonderful 13 year old niece, Bridget the pug, got her eye scratched by my cat.

initially she seemed okay & we thought it was “just” an eyelid scratch, until March 7 when she was squinting more & more. we decided to take her to a vet last minute and we promised my sister-in-law that we (my partner and I) would cover 2/3rds of her vet bill.

well, Bridget was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer & intense infection, and while healing has been slow, it has also been steady! Bridget’s mom was told on Wednesday that she would require surgery, but we are happy to report that the eye specialist did not agree! Bridget is healing well, albeit slowly, and it will just take some time to clear (with the aid of her MANY medications).

between the 4 visits she has had so far, we have spent $1707, with a specialist follow-up appointment on March 18 to check-in on her progress.

we are already draining all our funds to look after her, but what makes it harder is that one of us is on AISH, and another on WCB, so money we have spent on Bridget’s care was supposed to be for groceries and bills.

Bridget deserves to live the rest of her life comfortable, happy, and pain-free, so any donation, even $5, towards these vet bills would be an incredible help & we would be truly grateful.
