First, thank you so much for clicking this link and taking the time to read my story.
On June 3rd, 2019, the FSU Marching Chiefs are traveling to France! We have been invited to perform on the beaches of Normandy for the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion with additional celebratory performances in Paris. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, and I could not be more excited! However, due to family financial hardship, I may not be able to attend, and that really would be absolutely heart-breaking.
As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer just two years ago. For obvious reasons, she could no longer work, and with our family’s already-struggling financial situation due to my mom’s first battle with breast cancer in 2004 (yes, she’s a two-time survivor), we really hit a breaking point. Since my mom is still continuing with chemo-therapy treatments, her well-being on any given day is just too unpredictable for her to return to work at this time. With my dad’s solo income, it has been really hard just to keep my family afloat.
In addition, since this is now my 5th year at Florida State, my financial aid has maxed out, so I’m also working and trying to alleviate some of my own costs of living away from home.
Therefore, covering a trip like this on our own is simply not possible. My parents want me to experience this trip with all their hearts, but they are so discouraged that they cannot provide the money to pay for the expenses. However, with your help, the dream of taking this trip with the Marching Chiefs, an organization that I absolutely love, can become a reality.
The costs of this trip are broken up and due in monthly segments, so if you are not able to help at this exact moment, then there will be an opportunity for you to do so later if that works better for you!
Finally, please just keep me, my family, and this fundraiser in your prayers. If I can’t reach my goal of $2500, then maybe God has a different plan for me. But if I am somehow able to raise that kind of money… then thank the Lord for letting me have all of you beautiful and selfless givers in my life.
Anything and everything you give will be so incredibly appreciated by me and my family.
