Help Brian Get to Oxford

One week ago I was presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. Based on my audition, I was granted admission to the British American Drama Academy: Summer in Oxford program!

For the past 4 years, I have been humping away at being what I now call "a working actor" in Chicago. This road has had a lot of bumps, bruises and disappointments but I have not sat down. I have worked on Chicago P.D. (NBC) "Smiley",  A.P.B. (FOX) "Vince Yardley", voice over work for "LAYS" potato chips, worked with theater companies such as The Black Ensemble Theater, Court Theatre, Clockwise Theatre, Profiles Theatre, Porchlight Theater, The Paramount Theatre (in my second hometown Aurora,IL) , Pride Films and Plays, First Floor Theatre, and next will be Northlight Theater.

WHAT IS BADA?

This is a rare and unique opportunity for serious actors to learn British acting techniques that focuses on Shakespeare while exploring modern text, audition technique, voice and movement.The faculty consists of leading British theatre practitioners and faculty from top American graduate programmes, and is run in association with Yale School of Drama.

Some of the alumni from this program include Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Susan Kelechi Watson (This Is Us), David Schwimmer (Friends), Tarell Alvin Mccraney (Moonlight), Tracie Thoms (RENT, 911), Paul Giamatti (Saving Private Ryan), the late Nelsan Ellis (Get On Up, True Blood), Chicago's own Jerod Haynes, and now me!!!!!

IMPACT STATEMENT:

This program is impactful because it will help me attain the skills necessary to compete in different and more diverse markets. It furthers the narrative of there being more classically trained actors of color and diminishes stereotypes that could say otherwise. Representation matters and with your help, I will continue to be a agent of change and progress.
