Help Brent Barclay start life-saving treatment ASAP!!!

On December 22nd, 2020 Brent Barclay was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Brent lost his job because of his illness, and he will lose his short-term healthcare by the end of March. Any amount will help.  We also encourage you to share his story and this post on your social media – helping us find support is appreciated.

Brent Barclay is a 44-year-old husband and father in Splendora, Texas. Brent is a vital caregiver to his 14-year-old autistic and intellectually disabled son and has an 18-year-old daughter who graduates high school this year.

In December, Brent began suffering from near constant stomach upsets, causing him to miss many days of work. In just a few weeks, Brent had gone so jaundiced that his daughter, Lilith, said he looked like Homer Simpson.  Brent went to the emergency room and received the worst news a person can get - it was pancreatic cancer.

Brent’s illness symptoms worsened rapidly. He cannot stand for more than a few minutes. He cannot keep food down or even water some days. Unable to preform his duties, Brent was laid off from his job.

The doctors at St. Luke’s Hospital set out a treatment plan for Brent.  First a surgery called the Whipple procedure, then 7 months of chemotherapy. Brent and his wife depleted their savings paying for co-pays, deductibles, driving to and from medical center, and medications to ensure Brent received the Whipple surgery.

During surgery the doctors found a growth on Brent’s liver, showing the cancer has likely spread, moving his cancer diagnosis to stage 4. The medical team confirmed this when the biopsy results came back a week later. The full Whipple procedure could not be completed because of the cancer spread.

It’s been nearly a month since his surgery. Brent needs to start chemotherapy immediately. With no health insurance and their savings depleted, Brent now waits as he applies for all assistance we can find. Unfortunately, the government never does anything fast and Brent does not have time to wait.

Brent and Josephine are overwhelmed by the magnitude of these events. This fundraiser is being organized by me, Brent’s ex-wife, and his daughter. Funds raised will be paid directly to doctors, hospital, labs, pharmacy, and all the many expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. Please help by contributing what you can and by sharing this post far and wide.
