Giving Brayden the gift of being Home

My name is Cody Maxey and this page is created for Brayden Maxey, my youngest son. Life throws you curve balls at the most unfortunate times. I know with this pandemic going that we are all going through tough times financially. Brayden has gone through a lot this year and I have been fortunate enough to be able to give him the home he deserves and feels safe in. However, he is still in need of our help to get him to stay at home. We are going through court and have been battling since March of this year. I have Temporary custody of him due to his mother's unfortunate fall down the wrong path. He was tossed aside, left alone, and subject to things he should never see or go through as a child, all in favor of her disease. The Judge has threatened to dismiss the case due to the fact that I cannot afford the costs of the Evaluation fees. My family of 6 all count on me to provide them with the things they need. This has never been an issue until this year and the pandemic. Much of us have felt the damages of this virus, even if we haven't been affected health wise by it. My salary has been less than half of it normally is in the years prior. And my family has taken on more responsibility at the same time. The thought of being forced to go back to the place where he was left alone, watched his mother do strange things, be around strange people, have his things that were important to him stolen, and also put in danger, has Brayden terrified. Since he has been with us full time, he has exceeded in his academics in school, receiving the A-honor roll, perfect attendance, and also elected to be in the gifted and talented classes for which he has also excelled in. He has been caring and a joy for his teachers at his school, who always reach out to tell me how amazing he is doing. He has structure here, routine, family, and the biggest smile ever.  I only want what's best for my son and that is to keep him home where he is loved, with his brothers, food to eat, school to attend, and a safe warm room to sleep. I pray we can get Brayden what he deserves and has earned. All donations accepted and go directly towards his well-being.
