Please help brave little An fight lymphoma

Hi, I'm aunt Vy. I'm starting this fundraiser for my nephew, An Duong. An is an 18-month-old son of Tri Duong and Nhung Ton. An is an affectionate kid who loves to laugh, kiss and be kissed by his mom. Unfortunately, in May 2021, when An was 9 months old, he suddenly had trouble breathing and suffered a cardiac arrest. He was admitted to a hospital in Vietnam and underwent a surgery to remove a thymus tumor. He was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), a rare and aggressive form of cancer. After that, An went through an intensive chemotherapy protocol for 8 months. He was finally discharged by the doctor in February 2022 only to get readmitted a week later - with another lymphoma tumor in his lung. The doctor has yet to find a clear and effective treatment plan, but the cancer is now spreading to his liver. They are continuing his chemo treatment with higher doses for the time being, but his future is unforeseeable because his tumors are rapidly growing and spreading.

 

 

An's parents have put their lives on hold to take care of their son. Covid-19 has only added more complications. First, the family was separated and could not see each other for 2 years because Vietnam’s borders were closed until summer 2021. When Vietnam finally opened, An’s dad left his job in the US to fly back to Vietnam to support his family and take care of their elder son, who is only 2 years old. An’s mom must stay in the hospital full time to care for him. Now, An's parents are trying to get him admitted to a treatment program in the States that is willing to take his case. Their time is tight since the cancer is aggressively relapsing, with no known treatment plan in sight.

 

 

An has been a delight to our family since the day he was born, yet his little body must suffer such great pain from the surgery and chemo. He was named An with the hope that his life would be peaceful, but unfortunately, he is already facing the opposite in his first year. As someone who has been watching this little family grow, my heart aches for the struggles they are going through to save their baby.
