My name is Branden but all my friends affectionately call me Bear. I'm an alcoholic in recovery and currently have 18 months sober. I've been living in a sober house in Portland Maine for the last 12 months and I've been paying my bills and working on paying off debt by working as a pizza delivery driver. 
 
I was recently in a moped accident which caused my foot to dislocate and I suffered a closed bimalleolar fracture of my right ankle. Unfortunately the healing process will take at least 12 weeks which means it could be at least that long before I am able to start making money again. 
 
I am in good spirits and using this time the best way I can. I am learning that it's ok to ask for help (something I am not used to doing), I've learned how many people care about me, and I've learned the value of just sitting and chatting with people I care about. 
 
I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through the next few months financially but I have faith. Faith in my higher power, faith in the AA program, faith in all of the hard work and self improvement I have done, and faith in my friends and family. I know that whatever happens, I will be ok. I will continue to learn, and grow, and work everyday to be the best version of myself and help others whenever possible. 
 
So this is me realizing I can't do everything on my own and asking for help. Help with paying my rent at the sober house, medical bills, medical supplies, and debts from the past I am trying to stay on top of.
