Hello amazing people!
It's been a long time since we updated you on Boyan’s status. As you know my nephew is continuing his battle from Germany.
Boyan has recently decided to create a blog where he shares his thoughts about everything that is happening to him. His first post says, "Giving up is not an option." Тази седмица Боян ни призова да прекратим временно кампанията за набиране на средства, изчаквайки плана за лечение от клиниката в Германия. Той заяви, че ако след приключването на лечението му останат средства, те ще бъдат дарени на младежи, които се борят със същото заболяване.

This week, Boyan urged us to temporarily suspend the fundraising campaign waiting for the treatment plan from the clinic in Germany. He assures that if funds remain after the end of his treatment, they will be donated to youngsters struggling with the same illness.

Cette semaine, Boyan nous a priés de suspendre temporairement la campagne de financement en attendant le plan de traitement de la clinique en Allemagne. Il nous a assurés que s'il restait des fonds après la fin du traitement, ils seraient donnés à des jeunes souffrant de la même maladie.

My name is Boyan Bonev from Plovdiv, Bulgaria and I am 22 years old. My interest towards programming started when I was 12 years old. I continued my high school education at a High School of Mathematics, and graduated with an excellent grades. At that time, I was a participant and a winner in many local, national and international competitions in the area of Computer Science. I continued my education at The University of Birmingham pursuing a BSc in Computer Science. I was among the few students who managed to have a summer internship after their first year of their studies. For two consecutive years, I graduated with First Class Honours. I continued my third year at IBM as a Software Engineer. A year later, I was accepted as a summer student at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. During this internship, in July 2018, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. I came back to Bulgaria to undergo the treatment. It turned out that the chemotherapy is not enough to cure all of the bad cells in my bone marrow which is the reason I need transplantation. This procedure is financially impossible for my family and I am asking for your support.
My desire is to get cured and continue my studies as soon as possible in order to contribute to the development of the world by working in the area of Machine Learning and more specifically Convolutional Neural Networks that are engaged with the recognition of interesting patterns in an image such as, for example, B- and T- cells (concerning leukaemia).
Je m’appelle Boyan Bonev et j’ai 22 ans. Mon intérêt envers la programmation a commencé à l’âge de 12 ans. Durant mon secondaire, j’ai participé et gagné de nombreuses compétitions locales, nationales et internationales dans le domaine de la science de l’informatique. J’ai poursuivi mon éducation à l’Université de Birmingham (Grande Bretagne) en baccalauréat en science de l’informatique. J’étais un des seuls élèves ayant reçus un stage d’été durant sa première année d’études. J’ai terminé deux années consécutives avec des honneurs et distinctions. J’ai poursuivi ma troisième année chez IBM en tant qu’ingénieur en informatique. Un an plus tard, j’ai été accepté pour faire un stage d’été à CERN, Genève, en Suisse. Durant mon stage, en juillet 2018, j’étais diagnostiqué de leucémie aiguë lymphoblastique. La chimiothérapie s’est avérée insuffisante pour guérir les cellules endommagées de ma moelle osseuse et c’est la raison pour laquelle j’ai besoin d’une greffe. Cette opération est financièrement impossible pour ma famille et je demande votre aide.
Mon désir est de guérir aussi tôt que possible et poursuivre mon objectif de contribuer au monde dans le domaine de l’apprentissage automatique et plus spécifiquement dans le développement de réseaux neuronaux convolutifs qui sont à la base de la reconnaissance de motifs dans des images tels que les cellules B- et T- (dans le cas de la leucémie).
