Help! Both My Parents Have Cancer

Donation protected

Hello everyone, as of September 1st, both of my parents have cancer. Our family consists of my mom Jennifer, my step-dad Sean, my little brother Joe, and me. We haven't been a family as long as some, my mom and Sean got married three years ago on June 27th, 2015. Ever since he has been a better father than me and my brother could have ever hoped for.

Our family's battle with cancer began when my Mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer with metastasis to the liver. This shock ripped through my family. We were frozen. What could be worse than your mother being diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer?

Since that day in April, we have all been working to adjust to our new lifestyle and care for our mom. We had gotten pretty good at juggling the extra work hours, learning how to grocery shop and meal plan, as well as making sure that Mom was able to get to all of her doctor's appointments. Sean has been an absolutely essential part of our family support system, taking care of making appointments and providing almost all of our financial support.

In mid-August, Sean started having some pretty severe issues with fatigue, so he scheduled a regular doctors appointment to get it checked out. They performed routine blood tests and found he had low hemoglobin levels. The next night we had to rush him to the hospital. Later the next day we found out that he had Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

Sean now has to spend the next month in the hospital getting chemo. He won't be able to return to work for the foreseeable future. My mom applied for disability in May, but that still hasn't started to come in. I currently work full-time as a barista to try to make ends meet. Medical bills are piling up, and household expenses are burning through our credit cards

Our family has faced adversity for a long time. My little brother is bullied constantly for being transgender. I am trying to take care of him while working and its hard to make sure he gets the support he needs.  Our house is not paid off, the utility bills keep coming, and my paychecks can't cover everything.

We need help. If you can donate any amount, we would be more than grateful. These people are my everything, and I cannot imagine a world without them. Anything to reduce my parents' stress would lighten the load on our shoulders.
