<div><strong>WHAT IS THE 'ACTS OF REBURIAL' PROJECT ABOUT?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⭐The Bosnian-American filmmaker Harun Mehmedinović &amp; his team are working on creating a documentary + the largest digital database of the genocide that took place in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the early 1990s.
</div>
<div>⭐It is important for humanity to remember &amp; learn from genocides &amp; crimes against in order to stop history from repeating itself.
</div>
<div>❗We will only find closure and begin the path of healing, once we have dealt with the past by telling survivor stories, finding our missing loved ones and confronting the past.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>WHAT ARE WE FUNDRAISING FOR?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We launched a revolving GoFundMe fundraiser, with the initial goal of raising USD 25,000 to help our friend Harun Mehmedinović, an award-winning Bosnian-American documentary filmmaker, begin to address critical needs for his mission- starting with securing a reliable car so he can continue his long-term project- The Acts of Reburial.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past two years, Harun has traveled to more than 150 municipalities and villages across Bosnia and Herzegovina ️— including all towns, villages and hard to reach remote areas around Sarajevo, Tuzla, Brčko, Foča, Srebrenica, Prijedor, Sarajevo, Ključ, Zvornik, Višegrad, Bijeljina, Bihać, Mostar, Nevesinje and many others. He documents survivor testimonies, sites of mass violence that are often missing from the historical record and at risk of being forgotten forever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Harun is producing short reels &amp; visual pieces to help these stories reach wider audiences . You can view some of the reels Harun has already produced on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Substack and YouTube. Links are at the bottom of the page.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To continue this work, several critical areas must be addressed in stages. The first is acquiring a reliable 4x4 car.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>WHY THIS MATTERS</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li>Reaching remote areas and villages where no public transportation exists
</li>
<li>Transport of camera + sound equipment ️
</li>
<li>Eliminating ongoing rental &amp; temporary transportation costs
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>❗Harun works independently, without studio backing or institutional funding. Like many filmmakers committed to human rights &amp; education, he continues this work with very limited resources—because these stories matter ❤️‍.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>Initial fundraising goal: USD 25,000</em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The funds will go toward:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>A modest, reliable used vehicle
</li>
<li>Insurance + registration
</li>
<li>Maintenance
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution—large or small —goes directly toward enabling this work on the ground.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>️ About The Acts of Reburial</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Acts of Reburial is a long-term Bosnian Genocide education project that documents the entire genocide and all war crimes committed during the 1992–1995 war, across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina—not only the most well-known locations, but also towns and villages that are often overlooked.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The project covers the full scope of the war, including:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Genocide
</li>
<li>Concentration camps
</li>
<li>Sexual Violence
</li>
<li>Mass displacement
</li>
<li>Property &amp; land theft
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>A central goal of the project is to confront and counter stage 10 of genocide: DENIAL. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Denial remains widespread and is increasingly normalized through political discourse, education systems, and online platforms. By recording place-based evidence across the country, the project preserves memory, and protects historical truth, supports justice, reconciliation, and long-term peace in the region.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>️Nationwide scope — a multi-year commitment</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The project documents crimes and genocide across various counties and towns around Bosnia-Herzegovina. Because of its scale, this work will take several years to complete.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>A revolving, tiered fundraising approach</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This GoFundMe is being launched as a continuous source of support, with clear, visual goals:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Goal 1: Mobility</strong>
</div>
<div>Secure a reliable car so filming can continue across the country.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Goal 2: Production Support</strong>
</div>
<div>Hire a production assistant and help cover lodging, food, and on-the-ground expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Goal 3: Archiving &amp; Equipment</strong>
</div>
<div>Support equipment needs and the massive archiving and backup storage required for a project of this scale.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Due to the volume of footage generated, long-term data protection and storage are essential to preserving this historical record.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Other ways to support:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In addition to online donations, we also accept:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>In-kind donations
</li>
<li>Donations by cheque or other methods
</li>
<li>If you are interested in supporting the project in these ways, please contact us.
