I once dreamed of becoming a mechanical engineer, but sickle cell forced me to change paths and study civil engineering instead. Over the past five years, I have become my own nurse, learning to manage my health through countless crises and surgeries. The pain is constant, and there are days when I wake up and go to bed in agony, relying on pain medication that we often cannot afford. My condition has led to insomnia, AVN, and multiple acute chest syndrome episodes, making daily life a struggle and my future uncertain.

As a widow , she runs small businesses to provide for our family, but we barely have enough for routine meds . Her promise to never give up on me is what keeps me going, even when hope feels out of reach. My greatest wish is for her to see me heal and to finally have peace in her life.

A good diet and proper care are essential for my healing, but they are often out of reach. Accessing treatment would mean freedom from pain and a chance to live a normal life. It would also allow me to advocate for others living with sickle cell and educate people about the importance of genotype testing before marriage.
